Philadelphia Legal Assistance, a Legal Services Corporation grantee, provides free civil legal services to Philadelphia's low-income community. Full-time attorneys, paralegals, and clerical staff specialize in areas of law most affecting the community we serve. Specialists are available to give advice or to provide representation in the following areas of law:

Staff

Experienced staff provides legal representation, advice or appropriate referrals to thousands of clients per year who are experiencing problems in other areas.

Location

Located one block from City Hall and both the North-South and the East-West subway and El routes, PLA is easily accessible for people from throughout the city. PLA staff is also available to come out to speak to community, neighborhood or religious groups concerning their legal rights.


New Clients

PLA accepts new clients Monday through Thursday during the following hours:
On Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., walk-in intake is available. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, you can call and someone will evaluate your case. Please call our offices for Family Law intake hours. When calling, please have the information about your legal question ready.

Eligibility for Services

PLA can only provide services for people who are at 187.5% of the poverty level or less.
