PLA releases report on the current unemployment compensation crisis
February 3, 2017 -- Philadelphia Legal Assistance has released a report, No Relief to Those Who Need It Most: The Unemployment Compensation Crisis of 2016 -2017, on the effects of recent staff furloughs at the Department of Labor and Industry on Pennsylvania's unemployed workers.
The report is based on PLA's ongoing effort to collect information from unemployment compensation claimants who experience wait times and other problems while attempting to contact the Department of Labor and Industry. If you have information to contribute, please file a complaint at https://uccomplaint.org.
PLA released this report in conjunction with Community Legal Services, which on the same day released a report, Déjà Vu: Pennsylvania UC System’s Structural Funding Deficits Must Be Repaired So That the Program Works for Unemployed Workers, which examines the history of funding for the Department of Labor and Industry and proposes solutions for the current crisis.
