Grants Manager
Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA), a non-profit that provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and families to ensure equal access to justice and strengthen Philadelphia’s communities, is seeking a talented Grants Manager to join our organization. The Grants Manager is responsible for managing a pipeline of current and prospective grant funders who align with PLA’s mission, raising funds to contribute to our overall organization budget of $9 million, and strengthening systems to track and analyze our development efforts.
The Grants Manager reports to PLA’s Grants and Communications Director and is a key member of the organization’s Communications and Development team.
Key/Essential Responsibilities
· Manage PLA’s processes to secure government, foundation, and corporate philanthropic support. Work with leadership to formulate fundraising goals and ensure achievement of those goals each year
· Conduct research to identify funders and funding opportunities aligned with PLA’s mission and programs
· Write clear and compelling grant proposals, liaising with the leadership team and senior attorneys, as needed, for program-specific content
· Track deadlines and deliverables for awarded grants, ensuring timely and accurate submission of funding reports and other requirements
· Cultivate strong relationships with new and existing funders through strategic outreach and stewardship
· Ensure PLA’s development procedures are strategic, efficient and consistently implemented, including use of our development database
· Provide regular updates on development outcomes and milestones to senior leadership, including an analysis on grants won and lost to improve success rate
· Process, acknowledge and track all gifts and grants
· Maintain a thorough and up-to-date understanding of PLA’s mission, programs, and projects, including growth areas under consideration
· Support departmental programs and initiatives, helping craft donor and fundraising collateral and assisting with donor engagement events
Preferred Experience and Skills
· At least three years of development experience, with a demonstrated track record of identifying new funding sources, crafting successful proposals, managing report submissions, and stewarding foundation relationships
· Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills
· Strong organization, time, and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail
· Strong interpersonal skills and an orientation toward collaboration and teamwork, while also being able to self-motivate and work independently with minimal oversight
· A genuine enjoyment for innovation and problem-solving, with an enthusiastic and optimistic approach to work
· Familiarity with donor/CRM databases to manage donors and a revenue pipeline
· Values alignment with PLA, including a commitment to justice, equity, and opportunity
Location and schedule information
This is a full-time position working at least 2 days a week in our Center City Philadelphia office, with the other days of the week working remotely. Regular hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
To enable successful remote work, candidates will need to have reliable internet access.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000 annually along with a competitive benefits package that includes 100%-employer paid medical coverage for employees and their dependents, a 403(b) retirement plan, and generous paid leave including 15 vacation days, 5 personal days, 12 sick days, and 14 paid holidays.
