Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
The General Intake Unit can assist you with Chapter 7 Bankruptcy.
In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, you are relieved of your personal obligation to pay back certain kinds of debt. Typical debts that can be discharged in bankruptcy are credit card debt and medical debt.
Chapter 7 bankruptcy will not typically wipe away any student loan debt.
Chapter 7 bankruptcy is best suited for individuals who do not own a house or have very little equity in their house. PLA's General Intake Unit can help you figure out whether or not Chapter 7 bankruptcy is right for you. We may be able to refer you to a pro bono attorney through the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project (CBAP).
