Most low-income people are eligible for SNAP benefits (also called food stamps or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits). You might qualify if your income is below this amount:
Household Size | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
Monthly Income Limit As of 10/1/2017 |
$1,608 |
$2,166 |
$2,723 |
$3,280 |
$3,838 |
$4,395 |
$4,952 |
$5,510 |
If someone in your household is aged 60 or over, or receives disability benefits (like SSD or SSI), the income limit is even higher. The amount of SNAP you can receive depends on your income, your expenses (especially your housing costs), and how many people are in your household.
Apply for SNAP at your local welfare office. To find that office, you can call the County Assistance Office’s Customer Service Center at (215) 560-7226.
