Tax season is almost here! January 27th is the first day that the IRS will start accepting and processing tax returns for 2024.

If your income was $67,000 or less in 2024, you have access to FREE tax preparation resources. Here’s how you can take advantage:

  1. Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE):
    • These programs are staffed by IRS-trained volunteers who provide free tax preparation services.
    • Find a site near you by visiting irs.gov/vita.
  2. Virtual VITA Help:
    • Prefer to file your taxes from the comfort of home? Check out GetYourRefund.org for free virtual assistance.
  3. Free Filing Software:
    • The IRS and PA Department of Revenue offer free filing options starting January 27th. Browse available software at Free File or use the new Direct File tool at directfile.irs.gov.
